But then again its the holidays so people are probably strapped for cash right now. Really depends on how quickly you want to sell it. I imagine you could find a buyer for around $400. I would price yours at what a P1 goes for rather than a WWII P38. I know I over paid but good luck finding a WWII P38 these days for less than $600, even a lowly "unvaluable" Russian capture. So Im not sure that bodes well for a P1 or postwar P38. Russian capture P38s are seen as not having any value at all to a serious collector.

I imagine your gun cant be worth more than mine but Im not really a hardcore collector of P38s. I got a WWII all matching P38 Russian capture. Sounds like you have a postwar P38 that was produced before the switch to the P1 with the alloy (aluminum) frame. I dont know of any semiauto 9mm pistol that doesnt have a steel slide, Im sure there is some obscure gun out there though. You could find someone else that would be willing to pay more for the Walther P-38 that you have.Įdited to add, all of my Walther P-38 pistols will load and fire all types of ammunition including the el-cheapo steel cased Tula Ammo Or at least what I would pay for another Walther P-38 in 9mm parabellum based on the one pic that you posted, without holding it in my hands and being able to field strip it to check it's overall condition. I would put a value of what you posted a pic of at between $400 to $500 dollars these days. I have several Walther P-38s including my Grandpa's WW2 trophy with date of 1944 with matching magazine that he brought back from the war, and I use one of my post-war Walther P-38s as a listed CCW weapon. What condition is the barrel and rifling in? Recoil springs? Does it rattle when shaken, like the last post-war Walther P-38 that someone tried to sell me at an outrageous price of $700 dollars, and I passed on. Not sure if the aftermarket sights lower the value of the P-38. The magazines do not show the Walther markings, so after market magazines lower the value.ĭo you have the factory leather flap holster for it? Matching serial numbers are good.ĭoes the upside down "9" refer to 9mm parabellum caliber? If so, it may increase the value a bit. The stamped 4/59 is the date of manufacture/ April 1959. Operates as it should, some wear marks on the body.Īny idea what the price should be? thx guys. It currently has night, target sites on it but I have the original sites also.Ĭarl Walther Waffenfabrik ULM/Do stamped on the slide. It has a stamp on one side 4/59, would that be the manufacturing date? It has a steel slide, serial numbers match ( interestingly, the "9" on the slide was stamped upside down, maybe this increases its value?) I have no idea what to look for.Īnd before you guys "start" I know it's not a German pop gun or a French starters pistol.…
